The holiday home you’ve been waiting for is now ready !  

The Cow-House is a between the villages of Shap and Crosby Ravensworth, high on the fells at 1000 feet (315m).  We have wonderful views across the Eden Valley to the Pennines, in limestone country criss-crossed with drystone walls and views of the eastern Lakeland fells.  We are currently five miles from the east boundary of the Lake District National Park and about ten from the northern boundary of the Yorskshire Dales National Park; the Natural England review may soon see as as part of a National Park.  

We are only 40 minutes from the little-known North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which has wonderful Spring Gentians!

Ullswater and Haweswater are 20 minutes and 10 minutes away respectively; Appleby is 7 miles, Penrith 12 miles and Kendal 15 miles.  We are less than two miles from the friendly and comparatively empty A6 giving access north and south.

Places of interest, leisure activities, shops and good food are all within easy driving distances.  farmers’ markets abound as do excellent pubs.

We are on the C2C route and fabulous walking,  cycling and/or general touring is on the doorstep - you are spoilt for choice!

On clear nights the sky here is so black a magical abundance of stars are visible.
